Statement of Faith

ARMS receives support from several churches, but we are not affiliated with any specific church or denomination. We welcome men, women and youth of all faiths. Here's our Statement of Faith

History

ARMS is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that originated Oct. 1, 1997 under the auspices of Women In Need. In May, 1999 we became Abuse Recovery Ministry & Services.

Our first women's classes for recovery from domestic abuse was offered in 1999. In October, 2001, we expanded our outreach to help male perpetrators of abuse. We began offering classes for women in NE Washington in 2002, and opened an office there in 2005. Since March, 2005, we have offered programs for female victim/offenders.

We've added a new program - parenting classes for parents of children who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse.

Mission

To provide educational counseling and awareness to individuals faced with domestic abuse. Using biblical principles, we encourage beliefs and behaviors that heal and promote healthy life styles.

Additional Programs

Luncheons
ARMS provides free luncheons solely on a donation basis. At these luncheons, the abused can learn about abuse and the services ARMS provides. Others are welcome to come as well, to learn more about ARMS and how each of us can play a role in helping to end this destructive cycle.

Training
ARMS offers training to help the religious community learn how to deal with domestic abuse. Teaching them how to deal with both the abused and the abuser, as well as offering our resources to them.

Crisis Care
ARMS occasionally provides small funding for women attending our groups for special needs such as replacing locks, paying a small utility bill or toward rent payments .
